Primary Consort Minhui (of the Borjigit clan) was a Mongol noblewoman and the first wife of Hong Taiji, the founding emperor of the Qing Dynasty. As a member of the powerful Khorchin Mongol tribe, her marriage helped strengthen political alliances between the rising Manchu power and the Mongol tribes. Though she died before Hong Taiji became emperor, she was posthumously honored with the title "Empress."
