The Late Ming (1550s–1644) brought economic prosperity from global trade but also fiscal mismanagement and peasant revolts. The Manchus in the north grew stronger, and by the 1630s, famine and crisis weakened the empire. In 1644, Li Zicheng captured Beijing, but Manchu forces soon seized control, establishing the Qing Dynasty and ending Ming rule.
