Empress Yan Ji (173–151 BCE) was the wife of Emperor Huan of the Eastern Han Dynasty. She became empress due to the political influence of her family, the powerful Yan clan, particularly her father, Yan Ziling. Despite her high status, she lacked personal influence and failed to produce an heir, which weakened her position in the imperial court. Over time, Emperor Huan favored other consorts, leading to the decline of the Yan family's influence. Yan Ji's tenure as empress reflects the struggles of women in the Han court to maintain power amid familial politics and imperial favoritism.
