About the empress:

Empress He (died 906), formally Empress Xuanmu, was the wife of Emperor Zhaozong and mother of Emperor Ai during the late Tang dynasty. Elevated to empress in 897, she endured political turmoil, including a forced abdication and the assassination of Emperor Zhaozong in 904 by warlord Zhu Quanzhong. Zhu installed her son, Li Zuo (Emperor Ai), and declared her empress dowager. In 905, Empress He was falsely accused of an affair and executed by Zhu's order. Emperor Ai was also killed in 907, ending the Tang dynasty. She was posthumously honored as Empress Xuanmu in 933.
