About the empress: Empress Zhen (died 251 CE) was the wife of Cao Fang, the third emperor of the state of Wei during the Three Kingdoms period. She became empress in 237 CE but had little influence in the court, as Cao Fang's authority was overshadowed by powerful regents, including Sima Yi. Empress Zhen’s life was marked by the turbulence of the era and the power struggles between factions in the Wei court. She was deposed in 251 CE under unclear circumstances and lived out the remainder of her life in obscurity.
